15 Free Photoshop Image Editing Alternatives
I love photoshop. I use it every day and edit images for every design I create. You don’t think the optional excerpt thumbnail images in each category create themselves do you? Before deciding it was worth the money to pay for my full photoshop license I used all kinds of graphic design alternatives.
I’ve compiled a list of image editing alternatives to photoshop from the web and am sharing it with you in case you don’t need expensive image editing software for your photography needs. Best of all these 15 free image editing sites are Free! Please leave a comment if I missed your favorite image editing app or to tell everyone which is best.
1. Aviary - Just launched but looks extremely promising already.

2. Dumpr - Offers a great selection of pre-set image effects for free.

3. flauntR - Hundreds of photo effects plus a picasa desktop plug-in.

4. FotoFlexer - Great image distortion and layers options, love the doodling.

5. Gimp - No free image editing list is complete without GIMP software!

6. Irfanview - An image viewer with image optimize and convert abilities.

7. Lunapic - Online image editing with FaceBook and MySpace sharing options.

8. Phixr - An online image editor with links to many photo sharing websites.

9. Photo Filtre - Great image plug-ins and editing tutorials, aussi en francais.

10. Picasa - Google’s own online photo editing suite complete with guides.

11. Picnik - Powerful editing tools that you can tweak to your heart’s content.

12. Pic Resize - Allows you to resize and edit things like contrast and grayscale.

13. Resizer - Just what it says, a quick and easy image resize tool.

14. SnipShot - Image editing tool with paid and free freatures for Webshots.

15. SplashUp - Edit multiple images with pixel level control and layers.

None of these free editing tools can do everything Photoshop does but you should be able to find what you need in at least one of them, and quite a few things extra… for free. I love internet technology!

A good list! Many here I haven’t heard of. I’m fond of Paint.NET myself. It’s not as robust as Photoshop but it’s great for a lot of little things
