Angel Wings Photoshop Tutorial - Create Your Own!
Why does the model in this image look so sad? Because her angel wings came at the end of life, sort of, you’ll see what I mean in a minute. This photoshop tutorial is to show you how to create your own angel wings with photoshop and you can chose to attach them to a happy model if you like, it’s up to you :p
Step #1 - Chose a base image that you will transform into angel wings.
This is the image I chose to use in creating her amazing angel wings. Sad huh?
Step#2 - Create your angel wings with these simple photoshop steps.
Select a square section of your original donor image. The fastest way to accomplish this is by chosing a fixed aspect ratio. 1 to 1 works well.
With your fixed aspect ratio set highlight a fairly large are of your donor image using the rectagular marquee tool. Your wings colors will be decided by this area.
Using your photoshop filter you next distort the area via polar co-ordinates.
Select Polar to Rectangular and press “ok”.
Now rotate the image 180 degrees. You can do this from the menu, simply select edit/transform/rotate 180 degrees. When you have rotated your image 180 degrees apply the polar co-ordinate distortion again but this time click on Rectangular to Polar. If you’ve done everything correctly so far you should have what is called an “amazing circle” that looks something like this.
To convert your amazing circle into angel wings repeat the last polar co-ordinate distortion filter three more times. Your amazing circle will now look like this.
To finish the wings rotate the image 180 degrees again (from the menu: edit/transform/rotate 180 degrees) and apply the polar co-ordinate distortion filter one last time. Then, from the menu, select “image/crop” and you’re done!
Step#3 - Play with your angel wings in photoshop until you’re happy!
Use photoshops pre-set filters to “play” with your wings a little more. Some examples below. Angel wings are easy and the sky is the limit, literaly!

I REALLY like this methode, i’ll try it right away
even though i enjoy my two short-circuit time methods:
1- pick an angel wing background (a.k.a: a photo of wings)
cut it
paste it on the photo of the person.
use the “history brush tool” to erase the excess and smoothen the image.
and that’s it!
2- add a few colors, lines, pictures, etc around the person where u want the wings to be.
smudge them to any shape u want.
go back to cleaning the edges with the “history brush tool” if u managed to smudge an area u don’t want to touch
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we’re done!
